Biography

Wesley West is a South African composer, music producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Cape Town, specializing in original music for film, television and documentary. His work spans a wide range of genres, from drama and thriller to comedy and factual storytelling, combining cinematic orchestration with contemporary production techniques to create emotionally engaging scores. His screen credits include the television series Ontwaak, Reënboogrant, Pronk Primêr and Die Kantoor, as well as the documentaries Verander and Noise & Neighbours. His score for Reënboogrant earned a South African Film and Television Award (SAFTA) nomination for Best Original Score, while Noise & Neighbours received the award for Best Original Score at the Third Culture Film Festival in New Zealand. A graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand with a Bachelor of Music in Composition, Wesley collaborates closely with directors to craft distinctive musical identities that enhance story, character and atmosphere. Whether writing intimate piano-led themes or large-scale orchestral scores, his music is driven by a passion for cinematic storytelling and creating memorable emotional experiences for audiences around the world.
